General Council

The Jamul Indian Village of California is organized pursuant to the Constitution of the Jamul Indian Village of California, adopted on April 1, 2017 (the “Constitution”). Our Tribe is governed by the General Council, composed of all qualified voters aged 18 and older. The General Council, as the governing body of our Tribe, exercises the governmental authority of our Tribe and is responsible for promoting and protecting the political integrity, economic security, education, health, and general welfare of our Tribe and its members. The General Council may delegate its authority to the Tribal Council, Tribal committees, and Tribal consortia or other entities as it deems necessary and in the best interests of our Tribe.

Erica M. Pinto currently serves as Chairwoman of the Jamul Indian Village of California, one of the 13 Tribes of the Kumeyaay Nation who trace their roots back 12,000 years in San Diego County, California. Her extensive executive experience gives her a sophisticated grasp on even the most complex aspects of Tribal governance.

Michael Hunter currently serves as Vice-Chairman of the Jamul Indian Village, one of the 13 Tribes of the Kumeyaay Nation of Southern California. A natural leader, a skilled storyteller, and a successful entrepreneur, Mr. Hunter is passionate about guiding the Tribe to self-reliance and ensuring the Tribe has control of its own future.

Teresa Cousins - Treasurer

Teresa Cousins currently serves as a Tribal Council Member for the Jamul Indian Village. In addition to serving on the Tribal Council, she currently serves as a Board Member of the California Tribal Families Coalition. Teresa attributes her interest in Tribal government to her father, Kenneth Meza, who served many years as the Tribe’s chairman.

James Cuero III currently serves as a Tribal Councilmember for the Jamul Indian Village. With a passion for preserving Kumeyaay culture and advancing the economic self-reliance of the Tribe, James is proudly leading the Jamul Indian Village on a new path to cultural preservation and self-sufficiency.

Tina Meza - Board Member

Tina Meza began serving as a Jamul Indian Village Tribal Councilmember in 2021. For more than a decade, Ms. Meza has worked in numerous capacities as an advocate for the Tribe’s culture, preservation, and legacy.

Jasmine Aloese - Board Member

Jasmine Aloese is a member of the Jamul Indian Village Tribal Council. She brings extensive leadership experience representing the Tribe and its gaming initiatives.

James Hunter - Board Member

James Hunter

Board Member

James Hunter serves as a member of the Jamul Indian Village Tribal Council. Continuing a family legacy of service in Tribal governance and having formerly served as Chairman of the Jamul Tribal Gaming Commission, Mr. Hunter brings a commitment to ensuring the success of Jamul Casino.
